5/3/08 Fishing Report

This past April has been like non other that I can remember. Usually we see large numbers of stripers in the Avalon waters and most have been keeper size, but not this year! It’s not that there are no stripers around, it’s that they are all small ones. Luckily we have the bluefish to play with this spring and surprisingly larger then normal for this time of year. Tog fishing ended on a good note with several over 20” being caught around the TI Bridge. Finally, both Fluke and Flounder are being caught in the back bay waters of Avalon. These fish are being caught on buck tails and plastics while trying for blues and stripers. The Flounder are of keeper size at least 10” and the Fluke would be keepers if they were “in season”.  .
