Cape May Stage Presents
Classic Radio Play "Sorry Wrong Number"
During The Stage Festival March 9-28

As the 12th Annual statewide Family Week at the Theatre and Stage Festival event continues, Cape May Stage, Cape May’s premier professional Equity theatre, in cooperation with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, is pleased to announce a unique opportunity for the older generation to take an entertaining trip back in time.   Starting March 9 and running each Monday thru March 30, Cape May Stage will take their live production of the classic radio play, Sorry, Wrong Number, on the road to four different Cape May County Senior Recreation Centers.
Cape May Stage Education Outreach Coordinator, Donald Toal, along with local performer Lisa Rigazio, will bring to life the classic broadcast, “Sorry Wrong Number” originally performed by Agnes Moorehead in 1943.  Complete with traditional radio music and ‘advertisements,’ audience members will be given the opportunity to get a taste for acting themselves. Toal and Rigazio, both graduates of DeSales University’s performing arts program, encourage participation and will lead all ages in several improvisational acting exercises.
This fun-filled event will take place every Monday during the month of March.  The first reading is scheduled for March 9 from 10:30-11:30AM at the Stainton Senior Center on Asbury Ave in Ocean City, with the second scheduled for Monday, March 16 at the Lower Cape Senior Center on Bayshore Road in Villas from 10:45-11:45 AM.  The final two readings will take place March 23 on Route 9 at the Upper Township Senior Center in Palermo and the last on March 30 at the North Wildwood Senior Center located at the corner of 10th and Central Ave.
All of these programs offered are free and open to the public, and a great opportunity to enjoy live theatre.
For more information, please contact Cape May Stage at (609)- 884-1341.

East Lynne Theater Company

"Mr. Holmes, I am under such a strain that I shall go mad if it continues. Do you think that your powers could shed a little light in the darkness which surrounds me?" says Enid Stonor to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.  And with these words, the famous sleuthing duo find themselves pitted against a psychotic villain in a race against time to stop the bizarre murders in an eerie country manor.
Step back in time, on Friday March 20 and Saturday March 21 at 8:00p.m., when East Lynne Theater Company, recently voted one of the top two Equity professional theaters in the state, presents Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes' Adventure of the Speckled Band" in the style of a vintage radio broadcast, complete with live sound effects and commercials, just like the Sherlock Holmes' radio series on NBC that premiered in 1930.
"The Speckled Band" is based on one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's personally favorite stories, and his rarely produced play "The Stonor Case," adapted by Craig Wichman.  This will be the final times that this adventure will be performed in Cape May.  Next November, ELTC presents Wichman's adaptation of "Sherlock Holmes' Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle."
The cast includes several East Lynne favorites.  Lee O'Connor is back once more portraying the famous detective, and Fred Velde returns as the loyal doctor. Lee first portrayed Holmes in ELTC's William Gillette's "Sherlock Holmes" and has become one of the main storytellers for the company's "Tales of the Victorians." Fred, who was in ELTC's "Anna Christie" and "Rain," has appeared in over fifty shows in NYC, including the off-Broadway revival of Mae West's "Sex." Alison J. Murphy portrays Enid Stonor, and Mark Edward Lang plays the evil Dr. Roylott.  Both starred in ELTC's recent production of "The Guardsman," and regularly perform with the NYC-based Laughingstock Company. Rob LeMaire, who appeared in ELTC's recent productions of "Helpful Hints," and "To the Ladies!" portrays several roles and operates most of the live sound effects. ELTC's Artistic Director, Gayle Stahlhuth, plays several smaller roles and directs.
The performances are at The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St., where the company is in residence. Tickets are $23 for general admission, $13 for full-time students, and, since ELTC is celebrating New Jersey Theatre Alliance's "Family Week at the Theatre," anyone age 18 and under is free.  For information and reservations, call 884-5898 or (click here). To receive a full schedule of events for "Family Week at the Theatre" call 1-800-THE-ARTS or visit www.familyweek.com
"Adventure of the Speckled Band" is also part of Cape May's "Sherlock Holmes' Weekend." Season tickets are available for 2009, and may be used for this production.  See 5 shows for only $90.00 and tickets may be used in any way, at any time.  See five different shows, or take family and friends to one or several shows.  Sends checks to the office at 121 Fourth Avenue, Cape May, NJ 08204 For information and reservations for shows, contact ELTC at 884-5898,
