Cape May Stage
Party Like a Scotsman at “Burns Supper” at Ugly Mug on January 22

Party like a Scotsman and celebrate one of the world's finest poets!  On Thursday, January 22nd, the Ugly Mug in downtown Cape May will hold the fifth annual Burns Supper at 7PM.
The birth of Rabbie Burns is celebrated every year in Scotland and all over the world, from Russia and China to the US, with Burns Suppers, where recitals of Burns' legendary poems and songs are enjoyed, along with quantities of haggis, and usually whisky!  This year marks the 250th anniversary of the much-loved poet's birth.  Burns was a prolific writer, but is best known for penning "Auld Lang Syne." And John Steinbeck's novel, “Mice and Men,” took its title from the verse of a Burns poem, “To A Mouse.”
The annual celebration in Cape May is being held, as always, in the British pub-style atmosphere of the Ugly Mug, where the men of the Cape Atlantic Irish Pipe Brigade will entertain the audience with a selection of Scottish bagpipe classics throughout the night.
Tickets cost $30 and include a three-course Scottish meal. Choose from beef or vegetarian haggis, and classic fish-and-chips.
All proceeds from the shindig benefit Cape May Stage. For more information (click here)
Box office at (609) 884-1341.
The box office is open Monday through Sunday from 10AM – 5PM.
Assisted Listening devices are also available upon request.

East Lynne Theater Company

Ralph, P Valeri, age 75, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Eastern Shore Nursing Home. He was born in Cape May Court House to the late Candido and Mary (Battendieri) Valeri. Ralph was a world traveler who was fluent in five languages. He had a great love of the arts, and even performed as a professional actor and taught opera appreciation courses..
Volunteers, staff and members of the Board of Trustees of East Lynne Theater Company, as well as many patrons, will miss his encouraging words, his "bravos," and his conversations about theater and travel. In 2003, Ralph volunteered to work box office, and in 2004, accepted ELTC Board membership.  He also distributed posters and flyers, and talked about the company to anyone who was in earshot!  ELTC honored him this past spring with the Encore Award, given to him at the South Jersey Cultural Alliance's Annual Paul Aiken Encore Awards Dinner at Bally’s in Atlantic City.  East Lynne is a proud member of SJCA, and this event offers the opportunity for members to recognize those who have well-served the arts.
He was also the Guild Director for Opera Classics of New Jersey, former President of the Jersey Performing Arts Guild, and Board Member and Vice-President of the Middle Township Arts Council.
Ralph earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, his Masters Degree from the University of New Hampshire, and his Doctorate Degree from Washington University at St. Louis, MO. He worked many years as a psychologist.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Marilyn Foster (Dan), Bonnie Palmer (Robert), Susan Bollinger (Corky), Francis Pasquarella (Frances), Pat Shrover, John Bogushefsky (June), Paul Bogushefsky (Kathy), Beverly Jolly (Larry), Richard Repici (Lynn), David Repici (Cheryl); 25 great nieces and nephews; and many close friends.  Memorial donations may be made to the Love of Linda Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260 or the East Lynne Theater Company, 121 Fourth Avenue, West Cape May, NJ 08204. Condolences at www.radzieta.com.
