Edition 17, Volume 3
September 1, 2008
Welcome to our Newsletter...

Ahhh September...my favorite month at the Jesey Shore!
The weather is GREAT during the fall, warm during the day and cool during the evening. If you enjoy a a quieter time at the shore, book a trip during the week in September or October, I promise you will love it! The weekends are packed with activities at all of the Jersey Shore Towns. Car shows, air shows, birding, some of the largest ethnic festivals in the country, motorcycle rallies, boat racing and in the water boat shows will keep you busy no matter what you are interested in. Most accommodations offer GREAT savings to you after the summer months come to an end. You can usually book a nice romantic stay at a Bed and Breakfast Inn for much less than the busy summer months and most motels and hotels offer fall package rates. As the evenings start to cool down, you can enjoy a nice romantic dinner next to a wonderful fireplace at some of our area restaurants. You will find that most of the boardwalk businesses stay open through September and offer large end of season discounts on clothing and other items. The amusement piers change to a fall schedule after the kids go back to school but you can still enjoy the rides and attraction for a few more weeks with much shorter waiting times. Why wait, visit us now and we can help you plan your trip by visiting the GREATVACATIONGUIDE.com to find everything you need to plan a GREAT day trip or vacation to the Jersey Shore!

While staying at the Jersey Shore please look for our guidebooks in your room and get plenty of Great Vacation Information in the Great Vacation Guide!!! Cape May Stage

HERE’S a chance to enjoy a brilliant Pulitzer Prize-winning play… at a price YOU want to pay! On Sunday, September 7th Cape May Stage is offering a ‘pay what you can’ night for theatergoers to attend John Patrick Shanley’s drama, “Doubt.”  This is the second season that the city’s renowned professional Equity theatre, now celebrating its 20th anniversary season, has offered these special evenings of theatre. The ticket amount paid is entirely at the discretion of the theatregoer and is intended to draw those who are deterred by the traditionally higher prices.
“I hope that the ‘pay what you can' nights Cape May Stage offers will encourage more people to take a step into the unfamiliar and see a production they would perhaps not normally see, or to make that first move," says Marketing Director Alicia Grasso.  “Pay what you can’ works just like it sounds. You pick your own ticket price and it’s really starting to get a following.”
In “Doubt” Sister Aloysius (Mary Baird), a hard-edged principal interrogates Sister James (Abby Royle) about a priest's relationship with the only African American student in a predominately Irish and Italian parish. She is not comforted by Sister James' assertions that Father Flynn (Paul Bernardo) has become the boy's mentor and protector.  Convinced that the church hierarchy will protect him, Sister Aloysius sets out to take him down herself. What ensues is a bristling confrontation between the fiercely protective nun and the priest who feels that the Sister has overstepped her authority.
Tickets for designated ‘pay what you can’ performances go on sale at the box office at 7:45PM prior to an 8PM curtain time on September 7th.  Patrons may elect to pay anywhere from $1 to the normal ticket price of $35/adults, $25/seniors and $12.50/students. Whatever tickets have not been sold for that evening’s performance will be ‘pay what you can’ and will be on a first-come first-serve basis. Cash sales and exact change only. Seating for all ‘pay what you can’ performances is subject to availability and is not guaranteed.
“Doubt” performances are Wednesdays thru Sundays at 8pm thru September 27th at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse of the Cape May Stage. A marvelous Dinner-and-a-Show package is available with 17 of the finest restaurants in Cape May. Call (609) 884-1341 for reservations and for information (click here).
This production is generously co-sponsored by The Blue Pig Tavern at Congress Hall and The Ebbitt Room at the Virginia.
