Cape May Stage

Cape May Stage, Cape May's renowned professional Equity theatre, is hosting a special matinee performance for all senior citizens.  On Sunday, December 7th at 3PM, with the generous support of PNC Bank, all seniors, 62 and over, are invited to attend a performance of the holiday heartfelt classic “This Wonderful Life” at the discounted rate of $12.50 per ticket (that’s 50% off regular box office prices). ‘Senior Matinees’ sell out very quickly, so reservations are a must!
“This Wonderful Life” written by Steve Murray and conceived by Mark Setlock, returns to Cape May Stage after a sell-out run in 2006 to delight theatergoers once again. Share the hope and humor of Frank Capra's adored classic Christmas film It's A Wonderful Life in this delightful stage adaptation directed by Jim FitzGerald. The virtuosic Charlie Bethel (The Woman in Black, Beowulf, Every Christmas Story Ever Told!) portrays George Bailey, Clarence the Angel, Mary, Old Man Potter, and twenty more of Bedford Falls' finest citizens. George comes to realize that life really is worth living and that the actions of one person do make a difference in the world. Make this heartwarming family experience a part of your holiday tradition this season.
Performances run November 28th thru December 28th.  The half-price senior matinee is December 7th at 3PM.    Showtimes are Wednesdays thru Saturdays 8PM, Sundays 3PM at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse at Bank & Lafayette Sts. in downtown Cape May, NJ. Tickets are $35 adults, $25 seniors, $12.50 students. Dinner and a Show packages are available with 12 gourmet Cape May restaurants. For more information (click here)
Box office at (609) 884-1341.
The box office is open Monday through Sunday from 10AM – 5PM. Assisted Listening devices are also available upon request.

East Lynne Theater helps the Food Closet
and other December events...

As usual this time of year, the Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company will be accepting nonperishable items for the Cape May Food Closet.  What is needed are paper products, tooth paste, and food, with current and future expiration dates.
Of course, items will be accepted any time, but for patrons attending the Sunday, Dec. 7 performance of ELTC's "O. Henry's Christmas Stories" they will save $3.00 off the already low admission price when bringing Food Closet items. This $3.00 deduction cannot be combined with any other deduction, such as the $3.00 savings when bringing in a theater stub from a past production.
There are only five performances of  the world premiere of "O. Henry's Christmas Stories:" Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28 and 29, Sunday, Dec. 7, and Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and 14 at 8:30pm, where the company is in residence, at The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St. As usual with ELTC's Christmas shows, the company reduces its regular ticket price as an early holiday gift to its audience. Tickets are $20 for general admission; $10 for full-time students, and as always with ELTC productions, those ages twelve and under are free.
ELTC's Artistic Director, Gayle Stahlhuth brings three O. Henry stories to life: "The Christmas Stocking," "Christmas by Injunction," and "The Gift of the Magi." Like last year's well-received and reviewed production of "Louisa May Alcott's Christmas," Stahlhuth portrays over twenty-five characters in storytelling-fashion, where the flick of a wrist, the bend of the waist, the turn of the head, and the tone of voice can bring a character to life in a heartbeat.
One reason there are only five performances of the Christmas show is that Stahlhuth is still busy this time of year. On Friday, Dec. 5 at 6:30pm, she will be helping once again with the 90 minute audience-participation reading of "A Christmas Carol" at the Cape May Court House Library, 4 Moore Rd.  Contact the library for details, by calling 463-6350. On Sat., Dec. 6 from 2:00-3:30pm, she will conduct a Theater Workshop at the Atlantic City Free Public Library, One North Tennessee Ave., in Atlantic City.  The class is fee, and the size is limited to 20, for ages 10-15. For more information and to make a reservation, call Jennifer Boyce, Director of Teen Services at the library, at 609-345-2269, ext. 3052.
Season tickets for 2009 are available and make a great Christmas present!  The price is 5 shows for only $90.00, a $40 savings for single-ticket General Admission, and must be purchased by June 30. They can still be used in any way at any time. Use all 5 for one show, or see 5 different shows, and any combination in-between. There are five new productions planned for 2009.
East Lynne’s season would not be possible without the support of Curran Investment Management, La Mer Beachfront Inn, Aleathea’s Restaurant, the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts; the NJ Dept. of State, Division of Travel and Tourism; Cape May County Freeholders’ Fund administered by Cape May County Division of Culture & Heritage; and the generosity of many patrons.
For information and reservations, contact ELTC at 884-5898,

Their motto is "We have it all" and that they do and they do it well. An all American sports bar with all the trimmings. It's the favorite of all the locals. Just across the 34th Street Bridge out of Ocean City. Serving lunch, dinner and late night snacks, with the freshest ingredients, it's no wonder they are busy year round.
