Cape May Stage
If you are looking for edgy, contemporary, perhaps never-before-seen, theatrical presentations or like new ideas, new perspectives, and pushing the limits in theatre, like NYC’s Fringe Festival, look no further. Now in its fourth successful season, Cape May Stage’s two week annual ‘Flying Solo Festival’ opens its first week with both New York and Chicago-based performers. November 1st at 8PM the Equity Theatre will present “Renegade Voice from the Mythic Mosaic,” by Imakhu and will finish the week with Michael Fosberg’s “Incognito” on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
Renegade Voice from the Mythic Mosaic is a collection of African American folktales, contemporary urban stories, spoken word, music and movement. This magical combination delivers a creative, often autobiographical, voice to ancestral and contemporary Black culture. Presented in two acts, Imakhu brings the wealth of her thirty-year professional artistry to this powerful body of work
Cape May Stage’s second Flying Solo Festival presentation will feature Michael Fosberg’s Incognito a personal journey for self discovery in what the Kansas City Star hails as “…the most unique example of a one-man show that theatergoers are likely to encounter
“Renegade Voice…” will be performed Thursday, November 1st at 8PM. “Incognito” will be performed Friday, November 2nd, Saturday November 3rd, and Sunday November 4th at 8PM. Tickets are $28 adults, $20 seniors, and $10 students
During the second week of its fourth annual ‘Flying Solo Festival’ season, Cape May Stage offers its audiences two original, though-provoking, and often humorous one-person performances. On November 7th and 8th the Equity theatre company will present “Tea for Three” by New York-based actress Elaine Bromka and will conclude the week with the debut of Cape May-based John Alvarez’s original show, “Losing Myself (In Palaces of Sand)” on November 9th, 10th, and 11th.
Following “Tea for Three”, Cape May Stage will present “Losing Myself (In Palaces of Sand)”. This one-man show by Cape May’s own writer/performer John Alvarez, describes the life of Jake Tallenger, a writer for hire.
“Tea for Three” will be performed on Wednesday, November 7th and Thursday, November 8th at 8PM. “Losing Myself…” will be performed on Friday November 9th, Saturday November 10th, and Sunday November 11th at 8PM. Tickets are $28 adults, $20 seniors, and $10 students. A Flying Solo Flex Pass allows ticket buyers to see all four Festival shows (this includes two other shows during the week of November 5th) for $59 and is transferable. Group rates for parties of 15 or more are also available. (click here)
During the current run Cape May Stage is participating with 16 Cape May gourmet restaurants in a money-saving “Dinner & A Show” package promotion - a special night out. Restaurants involved in the promotion include 410 Bank Street, Aleathea’s Restaurant, Bloody Mary’s Bar & Grill, The Blue Pig Tavern, Café Promenade, Cucina Rosa, The Ebbitt Room, Frescos, The Mad Batter, Martini Beach, Merion Inn, Oyster Bay Restaurant & Bar, The Pier House, Tisha’s Fine Dining, Union Park, and The Washington Inn. Call the individual restaurants for reservations and information.
This production is generously co-sponsored by Curran Investment Management.
2007 Cape May Stage Schedule (continuing)
“Flying Solo Festival IV” October 31 November 10
For the fourth year in a row the Flying Solo Festival features virtuoso performances, unsupported by elaborate sets and props or other actors! It’s a tour-de-force featuring original one-person performances in American theater.

East Lynne Theater Company
A new radio-style play for Sherlock Holmes' Weekend performs in Cape May on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, before traveling up to Mahwah for a Sunday performance. This time, it's "The Adventure of the Speckled Band" with live sound effects, just like the original 1930 NBC radio productions.
On Sunday, Nov. 4, ELTC is also sponsoring a day trip to Peddler's Village, in Pennsylvania. On Thursday, Nov. 8 is East Lynne's annual fundraiser, "101 Nights: A Magical Gala," featuring magician extraordinaire Robert Aberdeen, Middle Eastern Dancer Victoria Papale, and performers Mark Edward Lang and Alison J. Murphy. Once more, this special evening of food and fun, with an auction, will take place at Aleathea's Restaurant. "Louisa May Alcott's Christmas" rounds out the 2007 Season with shows between Nov. 23-Dec. 8
The Dinner-and-an-ELTC-Show-Combo still continues at the following restaurants: Aleathea's, Bloody Mary's Bar and Grill, 410 Bank Street, Frescos, The Mad Batter, Martini Beach, and The Washington Inn.
For information and reservations, (click here). East Lynne’s season would not be possible without the support of Curran Investment Management, La Mer Beachfront Inn, Aleathea’s Restaurant, the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and the generosity of many patrons.

The Mouse Trap
The old saying says, “If you build a better mouse trap the world will beat a path to your door!” Building the trap is one thing, but having the right cheese is of paramount importance when it comes to being successful.
Speaking of cheese, here’s a fabulous idea: The Mouse Trap, 2301 Dune Drive in Avalon, New Jersey. At The Mouse Trap the cheeses are not intended for small furry animals but rather they’re solely for the delicious enjoyment of their customers…who come to sample wonderful imported and domestic cheeses, fresh bread and rolls, fresh cheese spreads, party platters, gift baskets and much more. Abundance and selection, quality and value are hallmarks of the products offered at The Mouse Trap, and the people who come to Avalon regularly make The Mouse Trap a favorite stop.
The Mouse Trap operates with one goal in mind: to turn strangers and browsers into customers, and to turn customers into friends. The Mouse Trap is now closed for the cold weather hiatus, and they want to say a warm “Thank You” to their customers for their patronage this year. They extend warm wishes to you and your family and friends for a wonderful fall and winter, and look forward to serving you again in 2008. (click here)

La Mer Beachfront Inn
In French “La Mer” means “The Sea.” In Cape May, La Mer means “exquisitely complete in every way,” because La Mer Beachfront Inn is new in every sense of the word. Fully re-done, La Mer is a beautifully appointed facility offering all the amenities you could ever want.
Located in the “quiet” end of town, La Mer has 133 guest rooms, and a view of the ocean that is spectacular. All their efficiency rooms have kitchen areas equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, granite wet bars, and 24 of their suites also feature cooktop stoves.
La Mer’s large suites have private balconies, multiple phones, and high speed Internet access. La Mer Beachfront Inn also offers two conference room meeting facilities that accommodate from 60 to 90 people - a Fitness Center with treadmills, elliptical and recumbent bikes - and there is a large heated Olympic-size outdoor pool with a spacious sun deck all of it steps away from the beautiful beach and the ocean. La Mer is designed for everything from a getaway weekend to a week or more at the beach, and if you like living in your comfort zone, La Mer redefines “comfort” and takes it to the next level to make their guests truly happy.
La Mer Beachfront Inn, 1317 Beach Avenue, Cape May, New Jersey also has barbecue facilities for outdoor cooking near the pool complex, pool-side food and beverage services, personal safes in their rooms, guest laundry facilities, and courtesy restrooms with showers for late check-outs.
La Mer’s largest efficiencies sleep five people with two double beds and a sleep sofa and some suites adjoin each other for larger parties. U.S. Coast Guard families, for example, stay at La Mer for graduations.
There is plenty of off-street parking for their guests, and gorgeous accommodations, fabulous ocean views, and your pampering begin the moment you step into their comfortable spacious lobby and check-in. La Mer Beachfront Inn where old Victorian Cape May meets the new in an extraordinary way! (click here)
To add even more to your happiness and satisfaction, the award-winning 4-star Pier House restaurant and Wine Bar is located on the same property, providing you with the best in dining, from a romantic dinner-for-two, your favorite cocktails, to full-scale special dinners for corporate and private gatherings.
When you think of Cape May, think of La Mer Beachfront Inn, the standard by which true excellence is measured. (click here)

The Mission Inn Bed & Breakfast
Once upon a time in the enchanted town of Cape May, New Jersey there lived a man named Nelson Z. Graves. Mr. Graves was no ordinary man. He developed and owned the Cape May Electric Company, the Casino Playhouse, and an extraordinary farm that, for its day and time, was the marvel of the world because it was “sanitary.” It had concrete floors, electricity, mechanical milking machines, and people came from all over to see it.
Mr. Graves traveled to the American West, and what he saw there led him to return and construct an extraordinary home the newspapers of the time called The Spanish Bungalow. The year was 1912, and Nelson Z. Graves did many other things too numerous to mention.
Years later Susan Babineau-Roberts and her husband Raymond were traveling the eastern seaboard in search of the perfect place to build a bed & breakfast. They had experienced such delight in B&Bs over the years that they had decided that this was what they wanted to do. When Susan saw The Spanish Bungalow, genius and intuitive sense said to her,
‘This is the one!’ Susan set off to California and toured over twenty California missions in search of her dream. When she returned, the real work began.
Each of the eight guest rooms in The Mission Inn at 1117 New Jersey Avenue in Cape May is extraordinary. Susan videotaped and made still photographs of the missions she toured. Now, the painted murals of the southwest, the carved headboards showing a different California mission in each room, and two-person tubs and luxury showers throughout the inn are the genius of design evoking the soft shadows and beauty of the southwest, coupled with modern amenities, making The Mission Inn, if we dare say so, the most extraordinary year-round destination in the ultimate destination for Great Vacations and getaways in Historic Cape May, New Jersey.
The Mission Inn and your innkeeper Susan Babineau-Roberts, Raymond Roberts, and her staff cordially invite you to experience California style casual elegance, “…where east meets west, and hospitality begins with your call.”
Enjoy gourmet breakfasts served on the porch May through October, and inside this lovely Mission home the rest of the year. Each room has a fireplace to enjoy in the cooler months. There is wireless Internet access in each room, televisions (some 32 inches!) with DVD players that may be hidden away when they’re not in use, and all the amenities you could want.
The Mission Inn offers guests an afternoon Happy Hour, complete with hors-d’oeuvres bicycles for riding, and the beach items you’ll need, such as oversized towels, chairs and umbrellas, so you don’t have to pack too much to bring along. We’ve personally experienced the loveliness and hospitality at the Mission Inn and we give it a well deserved Great Vacation Platinum Star! (Better than a Gold Star!) The Mission Inn - helping guests create a lifetime of happy memories one memorable visit at a time. (click here)
This is an extraordinary place for romantic vacations and getaways, made doubly so by its unique architecture, lovely faux painting, incredible murals and attention to detail.
