Edition 19, Volume 2
October 1, 2007
Today's Date:
Welcome to our Newsletter...

Welcome to October. Falling leaves, cooler winds, the smell of wood smoke on the air, Halloween, and all those special things we enjoy at the shore – like sharing the beaches and promenades with less people, the color of the sky over the ocean, and dogs chasing after sea birds on the beach. The dogs never catch them, but they try for the fun of it, and autumn is a very special season when the leaves change colors and time seems to catch its breath.

Great Vacation is growing again, and you’ll be reading about it here in this newsletter in the coming weeks and months. Email this newsletter to everyone you know – even to people you’ve never met – because it’s free, and what it will be bringing to people in the future is a great deal more access and information to all the things that make a vacation truly great.

Many shore towns still have full calendars in October. Check them out in Great Vacation Things to Do! Remember those favorite shore photos we’re always requesting from people? Well, soon it will be time to pick your favorites. The Grand Prize winner is going to get some really fabulous prizes, and the best photos will end up in our in-room magazine guide, as well. Watch for the details coming in a future  issue. Don’t forget to read about all those places to stay, dine, shop and enjoy. It’s all in here. Be sure to check out the attractions in this issue. There are some very special weekends coming up this month.

Read about our featured business, fishing report, and who is coming to Atlantic City stages and entertainment venues. It’s never too early to book your vacation for next year. Go to GreatVacationShoreRentals.com for information. Our in-room magazine guide is going to be more comprehensive in the future, and we’ll keep you informed about why when the time is right. So, welcome to another issue of the Great Vacation newsletter. The fun and good times are ready when you are!

Sincerely,
The Editors

Cape May Stage
2007 Cape May Stage Schedule

Described by Oscar Wilde as, “a most wonderful, lurid and poisonous little tale”, “The Turn of the Screw” is probably the most famous and controversial Victorian Ghost story ever written.  Cape May Stage, Cape May’s premier professional Equity theatre company, proudly presents Henry James’ classic ghost story as the latest in the Stage’s annual series of gothic thrilling stage adaptations now through October 27.

Among the best of the psychological horror genre, “The Turn of the Screw” was first published in 1895. In 1950, William Archibald wrote a stage adaptation he titled, “The Innocents.” That version sired a 1954 opera by Benjamin Britten and a 1961 movie starring Deborah Kerr as the governess.

“The Turn of the Screw” performances are Wednesdays thru Sundays at 8:00 pm thru October 27 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse of the Cape May Stage. Tickets are $28 adults, $20 seniors, and $10 students.

This production is co-sponsored by Kurkowski Market Research and The Ugly Mug.

“Turn of the Screw” Now through – October 27
A young governess goes to a lonely English manor house to care for two recently orphaned children, but she is frightened and tormented by ghostly fiends who appear to want to destroy the children.

“Flying Solo Festival IV” October 31 – November 10
For the fourth year in a row the Flying Solo Festival features virtuoso performances, unsupported by elaborate sets and props – or other actors! It’s a tour-de-force featuring original one-person performances in American theater.

“The Annual Holiday Show” November 23 – December 30

East Lynne Theater Company

The East Lynne Theater Company performs in residence at The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St. in Cape May. "You and I," the fourth out of eight productions this season, runs Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. from now through Oct. 13, 2007.
Tickets are $23 general admission; $18 for seniors and those with disabilities and their support companions; and $8 for full-time students. Children ages 12 and under are always free.

"Tales of the Victorians," ELTC’s popular American short stories read on B&B porches, will be on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 4:00p.m. at the Cliveden Inn, 709 Columbia Ave. Admission is just $7.00, and ages 12 and under are free. Call ELTC for reservations.

The production of "You and I" would not be possible without season sponsors Curran  Investment Management, Aleathea's Restaurant, La Mer Beachfront Inn, show sponsor The Cliveden Inn, and the generosity of many patrons. For information (click here)

Island Grill Seafood & Steak House

At Island Grill Seafood and Steak House, 100 Atlantic Avenue in Ocean City, New Jersey…it’s all about family – your family and their family. Let’s begin with their family:

Andy and Alison Yoa established the Island Grill in 1996. Andy, a graduate of Johnson & Wales University – one of the finest culinary schools in America – is in charge of their great menu, and its preparation, and Alison manages the front of the restaurant (…where you and your family sit down to lunch or dinner!)

Now, we come to your family – and why you should make the Island Grill a regular stop whenever you’re in Ocean City. Charbroiled steaks, fresh seafood, chicken dishes, pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads, a children’s menu, outdoor dining (weather permitting), a fabulous catering service with complete party planning and coordination service, well…you get the picture! Reservations are not required, and the Island Grill’s comfortable atmosphere is designed to enhance your meal. All you have to do is provide your good company and conversation.

The Island Grill Seafood & Steak House is handicap accessible, and their fall hours and days open October through December are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m., and dinner starting (for early birds) at 3:30 p.m. For more information you can call 609-391-9616, or (click here)
